China completes Three Gorges Dam wall

China completed construction on Saturday of the giant Three Gorges Dam wall, a milestone in the world’s largest hydroelectricity project which is also designed to tame the flood-prone Yangtze river.

Chinese nationalist leader Sun Yat-sen proposed the project as early as 1918, and Mao Zedong once waxed poetic on his hopes for a "great wall of stone" from which "a smooth lake" would arise among the gorges.

Tibet train schedule announced.

In a move, which is expected to provide major fillip to tourism in Tibet, the schedule for the first five trains to Tibet via the new Qinghai-Tibet railway has been finalized. The trial operations will commence from July. The tickets for the first five trains heading for Tibet sold out almost immediately.

The 1,956-kilometer-long Qinghai-Tibet railway is being termed as the world’s highest and longest plateau railroad and also the first railway connecting the Tibet ....

Hong Kong’s new US$3.5 billion Disneyland theme park has admitted despite showing positive cash flow and great liquidity, it is suffering from poor attendance, similar to its experience when it opened Paris Disneyland.

"Figures have been lower than expected, but we still expect to reach our year-goal of 5.6 million visitors," Disney said in a statement.

Tourism in Asia may lose billions this year due to misconceptions on travelers’ safety, a report released by Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) and VISA International has revealed.
